FAQs

WHERE ARE YOU AND CAN I LEAVE MY CAR WITH YOU?

We are within 3 miles of the town of Framlingham (IP13). For security reasons and to meet insurance requirements we will give you the exact street address only at the time of Booking Confirmation.

You are welcome to leave your car on our property (which is located off a quiet country road) at your own risk as we will not accept any responsibility for the vehicle or any possessions left therein. Depending on the volume of business we might be or might not be able to put it in one of our lock-up garages.

CAN CHILDREN BE CARRIED IN THE CARS?

Our Triumph Stag and Morgan 4+4 only have a single rear lap belt across the entire width of the seat swab – but this might not be an issue: please see the link to the relevant site. Otherwise all our vehicles have the appropriate seat belts.

DO YOU ALLOW PETS IN THE CARS?

Sorry, no, we do not unless it is a Guide Dog or similar.

WHERE CAN I GO IN THE CAR?

Pretty much anywhere except overseas. Remember that your included mileage allowance is 150 miles per day and the excess mileage charge could be significant if you go over that limit. Bear in mind these are elderly cars and most are convertibles: with the wind noise and older suspension etc. traveling in them is considerably more tiring than a modern-day saloon so from personal experience we think you’ll find 150 miles per day to be near your comfort zone limit.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I BREAK DOWN?

We are usually at the end of the ‘phone but the further you are from our property the more difficult it will be for us to respond so your car is covered by RAC Roadside & Recovery Assistance who have an amazing success rate at putting cars back on the road and we have provided each car with spare-parts for their patrolman to use if necessary.

If he can’t get you going he will either organize a tow or tow you back to our property where we will, if possible, offer you a suitable alternative car but obviously cannot guarantee this (please read our T&Cs for more details).

NB: the RAC cover does NOT include changing a tyre or replenishing the fuel tank if you run out! If you call them out to do either of these there will be an excess charge of about £150 that you will have to pay.

IF THE WEATHER IS BAD CAN I CANCEL?

British weather is unpredictable and, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about inclement conditions: however your safety is our over-riding concern and if we feel that weather conditions are such that you would be in danger or be extremely uncomfortable in your chosen car we will try to be as flexible as possible and ideally offer you a postponement or a more suitable replacement car. However, there is no refund in the event of poor weather and a hire postponement or switch cannot be guaranteed (due to possible other vehicle letting commitments) and will therefore have to be treated on a case by case basis.

WHAT FUEL DO THE CARS USE and where can I refuel the car at the end of my trip?

Our cars run on unleaded. There are two small but easy to find petrol stations in Framlingham that charge the same per litre and there is a slightly cheaper Jet alternative on the A14 at Darsham railway crossing if you’re coming from that direction.

DO YOU OFFER CHAUFFEUR HIRE?

No

WHAT INSURANCE COVER DO YOU PROVIDE AND WHO IS INSURED TO DRIVE THE CARS?

Every qualifying driver is covered by our specialist comprehensive insurance.

Our insurance restricts use to drivers between 25 and 75 who have held a full driving licence for at least five years. If you have had more than two speeding offences within the last three years or have been convicted of a more serious motoring offence at any point you must contact us before booking. There are a number of other restrictions – for full details see our terms and conditions. If you are in any doubt about eligibility, please email us or call 01728 638003

WHAT IS THE INSURANCE CAUTIONARY DEPOSIT

In common with all car hire companies as part of your rental agreement you agree to pay the insurance excess in the event of damage. We take credit (not debit) card details to cover this but we do not deduct the funds from your account at the time of rental.

We inspect the car with you before the start of the hire period using an Inspection Form, which both parties sign to confirm the condition of the car and once again at the end of your rental period.
If the car is returned damaged you will immediately forfeit the insurance excess pending the resolution of the issue. This may include us obtaining quotes for rectification/repair work and this can take some time. If it transpires that the cost of repair is less than the excess or you are considered not to be at fault we will refund the appropriate amount.

The Excess charges for each car are set by the insurance company and are in-line with those charged by other insurers of Classic Car Hire companies.

Damage to our vehicles also costs us in terms of time and lost revenue, which we may charge for.
